I just read the latest blog from Seth Godin where he posed a few simple questions to make us all think about our own productivity and general web-competence.
This got me thinking about how the upper ranks of a technology/SaaS/Web company would respond to the questions. Just how many of the tasks could a VP or Exec complete?
Then I wanted to know, is it the generation gap that drives the “productivity divide” wider and wider, or is it something else? My Grandmother’s husband seems to stay right on top of the latest trends and skill sets the Web and computers in general drive and demand…and he’s hitting his 80s. But I work with others in their 20’s and 30’s who grew up exposed to computers and they couldn’t pass Seth’s test.
And why do we see these folks, that seem to care less about learning to utilize the Web and computers to their greatest extent, working for some of the leading (and fledgling) technology companies? And how are they sneaking into the upper ranks?
